OLASI "Optimization of Logistics networks, Purchasing Strategy and Information Systems: Performance and Extended Enterprise"
2010 - 2014

OLASI is 4 year multidisciplinary research project sponsored by the Region Pays de la Loire associating several Research Laboratories of different disciplines relatively to supply chain performance in today’s complex environment. The goal is to develop state of art competencies, methods and tools necessary to help companies reach their goals of performance in the context of extended enterprises, and enable them to face the challenges of globalization in an even more competitive economy and within the context of sustainable development. This goal can only be achieved as a joint cooperative effort of research laboratories that will not only provide top of class answers to the issues concerning their own discipline, but also provide global answers to the problems faced by large companies and their complex network of partners along the supply chain.

The OLASI project associates a total of more than 30 researchers belonging to three principal research institutes and two associated laboratories of the Region , as well as two out-of-Region associated laboratories . The research involves three coordinated areas :

  • Purchasing strategy and suppliers selection in complex supply chains, devoted to the development of advanced methodologies for supplier selection and conduct of change in an uncertain environment involving risks,

  • Optimization of supply chain design and network optimization, focused on the development and experimentation of a generic supply chain network and facility location optimization and simulation models as well as solution tools involving innovative features, and

  • Information Systems supporting logistics network, aiming at determining the best information systems methods and tools appropriate to manage and coordinate supply chains in a complex environment, through a quantitative and qualitative approach and inquiries at the national and regional levels.

The research work of the project is conducted within each group on specialized topics, involving in particular three doctoral and one post doctoral student. In addition synthesis and coordination activities are organized between the three areas in order to achieve global answers to the problems. Work is also conducted in cooperation with participating companies who provide the experimental context. Expected results are innovative global as well as specific methodologies and tools appropriate for developing complex supply chains performance in this challenging context.
